TOM RUE
President / Owner
In January 2024, Tom officially took the reins from our founder, Joe Hughes — after 30+ years as part of the JHC family.
TAYLOR SCHMITZ
CFO / Owner
Taylor joined JHC in 2019 as a Controller and later became CFO. He oversees majority of the company and supports all staff as needed.
BRITTNEY BOONE
BD + Marketing Manager
Brittney joined JHC in May 2025 and has been committed to injecting new life into their marketing while simultaneously representing the brand and developing new partnerships.
SCOTT WIGMAN
Senior Project Manager
Bringing over 24 years of construction experience to the team, Scott started his career as a carpenter, working his way up to supervising multi-million dollar ground-up ventures.
JOHN FIFIELD
Project Manager
John has been with JHC 5 years strong. He has over 21 years in the industry and has received multiple project awards.
CARTER MYERS
Project Manager
Knowledgeable and skilled at all phases of construction including a deep knowledge of Multi-Family, Carter brings 13 years of commercial construction experience to JHC.
JOSH KELSO
Project Manager
With over 18 years as a general contractor, Josh is now happy to have aligned with the JHC team where the focus has always been about taking care of our clients.
SCOTT PACKER
Estimator
After graduating with a degree in Business from U of O in 2006 he found himself mixed up in the crazy world of construction. Scott is happy to have landed at JHC.

After 30 years in the industry, Julie, still enjoys the fast paced, ever-changing landscape of the commercial building industry where no one day is ever the same.

JHC welcomed John in late 2025 and he has fit right in as a valued team member and asset to our estimating department.

Cost Accountant
Jen has been in accounting over 25 years. She does a combination of HR and accounting while using her superpowers to keep JHC a positive work environment.

Joe Hughes founded this company in 1981 with a few tools, a truck, and his loyal dog! As we’ve grown and changed over the years we have remained as down-to-earth, loyal, and hard-working as when we began.
At JHC our mission statement is the guiding principle at the core of our daily business dealings with our clients. Each team member at every level has vowed to respect our customers’ investment and vision and is committed to understanding the unique needs and desires of each client through active listening and relationship development.

JHC promotes a culture of safety, integrity and 'doing the right thing'. With a 'family feel' environment facilitates employees across field and office staff engage with each other regularly.
Each office employee has their own office space, that enables a focused work effort and allows for impromptu team meetings without interruption our open space distractions. This provides our project team members the privacy to have conversations with owners, architects and subcontractors with the team in one place to improve communication.
The team has regular all-hands events, whether social 'team building' events, safety training or seasonal activities. These events are a great opportunity for the group to get together and enjoy each other's friendships away from the rigors of the projects we tackle day in and day out.
We constantly strive to create the best construction process possible for our clients, subcontractors and JHC team. Through this effort, we do our best to always do the right thing no matter the challenge or circumstances. Our goal, in each and every job, is to earn a long-lasting relationship as a reliable and trustworthy general contractor.
